This does not prove that walking or music causes friendship. It shows that adults in this Lifted Spirits sample often chose ordinary activities as things they would be comfortable connecting around.
Gaming is a genuine adult friendship route in this sample.
Gaming appeared on 1,655 profiles, or 30.7% of the sample. That supports treating social gaming as a real path into repeated contact rather than an unrelated niche sitting outside wider adult friendship.

Methodology and privacy.
This is a frozen analysis of completed Lifted Spirits profiles with at least one selected interest when the report was produced. The sample contained 5,386 profiles created between 15 December 2024 and 12 August 2026. Percentages use 5,386 as the denominator and members could select more than one interest, so percentages do not add to 100%.
Lifted Spirits is UK-based and this community sample is predominantly UK, but it also includes adults outside the UK. Geography was not used as an inclusion rule and the report should not be read as a national UK survey.
Only aggregate counts were used. Names, locations, private writing, private conversations, profile text and individual-level records are excluded. More personal categories can be withheld even when they are numerically large enough to report.

Limitations matter as much as the headline.
This is a Lifted Spirits community sample, not a nationally representative survey of UK adults. People who join a friendship and peer-support community are not necessarily representative of adults who never seek a community like this.
The profile taxonomy also shapes what members can choose. These figures are best used to understand this community and generate better questions about adult friendship, not to claim that 59.4% of all UK adults prefer walking as a way to make friends.
