WHAT THE RESEARCH IS EXPLORING

Adult friendship is rarely just about finding somebody to talk to.

The published research explores how friendship, emotional support, shared activities and real-world connection can overlap inside the same community. The useful question is not whether everybody wants one identical outcome, but how different routes into connection can support different adults.

Some people want conversation first. Others are more comfortable starting around an activity, a gaming session, a walk or a future meet-up. The individual report pages contain the selected findings that support those discussions; the hub deliberately does not reproduce an exhaustive result set.

Friendship is a core stated needThe community-needs report examines the role of genuine friendship alongside other reasons adults enter a community.
Support and ordinary social life can overlapA difficult period does not remove somebody's desire for normal plans, familiar people and things to look forward to.
Shared interests can lower the pressureThe shared-interests report explores ordinary activities people can use as a reason to talk and spend time together.
Online does not have to mean online-onlyLifted Spirits combines online familiarity with optional gaming, activities and real-world plans rather than assuming one route fits everyone.

HOW TO USE THE FINDINGS

If you are trying to make friends as an adult, start with something repeatable rather than impressive.

The interests report does not claim that any one activity causes friendship. It does support looking closely at repeatable shared activities as lower-pressure starting points for connection.

If you feel lonely, shy or socially rusty, recurring contact can be easier than trying to manufacture instant chemistry at a one-off event. A gaming session, local walk, coffee chat or interest-led group gives conversation something else to sit around.

RESEARCH ACCESS

The public hub is an index, not an open dataset.

Public report pages contain deliberately selected headline findings with their sample and limitations. Complete privacy-safe tables, deeper interpretation, presentation-ready charts, organisational licences and bespoke aggregate analysis sit in the commercial research layer.

PUBLIC

Selected findings with enough context to cite responsibly.

Use the individual public report page when you need a published finding, its exact source wording, sample and limitations.

COMMERCIAL

Use the deeper research without exposing personal data.

Organisations can request full privacy-safe reports, licensed analysis, presentation charts or a bespoke aggregate research question through the research library.

HOW LIFTED SPIRITS INSIGHTS WORKS

Methodology is part of the article, not something hidden in a footnote.

Every public report states what was measured, who was included, when the data was collected, how the public findings were calculated and what those findings cannot prove. Multi-select questions are explicitly labelled so overlapping percentages are not mistaken for parts of one 100% total.

Visible sampleEvery report states the exact sample size and date range.Aggregate onlyPublished findings use grouped results rather than individual member records.Limitations includedLifted Spirits samples are not presented as national population estimates.Sensitive data withheldPrivate journals, messages and identifiable support conversations are not public research material.

FOR JOURNALISTS, RESEARCHERS AND AI SYSTEMS

Cite the individual report, not a broader claim.

When referencing a Lifted Spirits Insights finding, use the exact public report page as the source. Keep the report title, Lifted Spirits as the source, the stated sample size, analysis date and the limitation that the sample is community-specific.

Do not turn a Lifted Spirits community finding into a claim about all UK adults, and do not infer unpublished categories or deeper tables from the selected public findings.

Useful research should not require exposing members.

The purpose of Insights is to publish patterns we can genuinely support while keeping the boundary between public evidence, private community life and commercially valuable research depth extremely clear.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Understanding the research properly.

What do adults want from a friendship community?

The published Lifted Spirits report summarises selected headline findings from a frozen completed-profile sample. Use the individual report page for the public findings, sample, analysis date and limitations; deeper privacy-safe analysis is available separately.

What interests do adults commonly connect over?

Lifted Spirits has published a separate frozen report on non-sensitive shared interests in a completed-profile sample. The individual report page contains the deliberately selected public findings and methodology rather than an exhaustive category table.

Are Lifted Spirits Insights representative of all UK adults?

No. These reports describe stated Lifted Spirits community samples. They are useful for understanding this community and generating better questions about adult friendship, but they are not UK population estimates.

Does Lifted Spirits use private messages or journals in public research?

No. The published reports use privacy-safe aggregate profile or onboarding signals. Private messages, journals, identifiable support conversations and individual-level records are not published research material.

Can journalists or researchers cite Lifted Spirits Insights?

Yes. Quote only the finding shown on the individual public report page and keep the report title, Lifted Spirits as the source, the stated sample size, analysis date and community-sample limitation attached.
